Mount Types

There are two types of mounting options available for our shades: inside mount and outside mount. Inside mounted shades are designed to fit inside the window frame and will have a deduction taken of approximately 0.4" based on the window width and 0.25" based on the window height to ensure a proper fit. It is important to note that inside mounted shades require a minimum frame depth of 2 inches for secure installation. If your window frame depth is less than 2 inches, it is recommended to select the outside mount option.

On the other hand, outside mounted shades should be ordered with the exact width of the area you wish to cover. These mounts are often used when there is not sufficient frame depth for inside mounting. Our shades come with all the necessary mounting hardware for both inside mount and outside mount options.

Inside Mount Measurement

For inside mount shades, follow these steps when measuring: 1. Measure the inside frame width at three locations (top, middle, and bottom). Record the smallest measurement and use that number for your inside width when ordering. 2. Measure the height at three locations (left, middle, and right side). Record the smallest measurement and use that number for your inside height when ordering.

Outside Mount Measurement

For outside mount shades, follow these steps when measuring: 1. Measure the outside frame width by adding 3-6 inches to be your outside mount width. 2. Measure the outside frame length by adding 4-6 inches to be your outside mount length. It is recommended to allow for overlap to ensure appropriate coverage and avoid any light gaps.
